On Sunday, the 22 of April, from 9.30am to 1.00pm, on the occasion of World Earth Day, Puglia Taste & Culture organizes: From the flamingos to the white onion of Margherita di Savoia.

This day will be dedicated to honoring the beauties and fruits that Mother Nature has given us. The journey will start from the fascinating Margherita di Savoia Natural Reserve. With licensed local guides we will learn all the processes of salt production in a tour where the reflections of the water and the presence of pink flamingos create an very fairy tale scenario. The saltworks of Margherita di Savoia are the largest in Europe and among the largest in the world.

After this journey that will leave you breathless, we will learn one of the symbols of this land: the White Onion.

We will visit a local company and, with the consortium of white onion, we will stroll in the fields to understand all the phases of the cultivation and production as well as the beneficial properties of this vegetable. We will talk to the farmers and listen to their stories related to the farm life.

At the end of the visit there will be a tasting of white onion recipes.

Only on specific request, the day can continue with lunch at the Osteria Vicoletto (not included).

From 9.30am to 11.30am, Visit to the Margherita di Savoia Natural Reserve;

From 11.30am to 1.00 pm, stroll in the countryside to discover the white onion and visit the farm.
